Auchmar Estate Update
On May 16th, City Council adopted staff’s recommendation that directs the Development and Real Estate Division of the Planning and Economic Development Department to proceed with the necessary Official Plan Amendment.
The report also directs staff to proceed with the required Zoning Amendments to allow additional permitted uses, and specify which uses will be compatible with the surrounding lands. As part of the planning process, public consultation shall occur prior to Committee and Council considerations of the proposed zone change.
Upon completion of the zoning process, the Economic and Real Estate Division of the Planning and Economic Development Department will then pursue the sale of the Auchmar Estates through the issuance of a Request for Proposal globally and internationally. In the event that no satisfactory interest has been expressed as a result of the issuance of the Request for Proposal, the Economic and Real Estate Division of the Planning and Economic Development Department shall report back to Council on future disposition options of the Auchmar Estates.
I would be grateful for any comments or questions you have on this subject. Also please feel free to contact me on this or any other issue you have.

If there is no uptake after all that, perhaps the building and grounds should be put up for auction??? We cannot throw good money after bad on this project. Some heritage organizations want the City to save everything yet they want the taxpayers to pay for that. If they want it saved, they should buy it from the City
Auchmar should be perserved in it’s exact origanial state. The familty that lived there was really important to hamilton and we should hounner them out of respect to them and what they did. Leave Auchmar alone!
