Today was a very interesting budget session. We had quite the lengthy debate in Council chambers about a staff proposal to institute a $10 per call fee for everytime you want to dispose bulk items. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!

Councillor Merulla and I pushed to have this defeated at Committee. I don’t think it is fair that we add another charge for a service we have been providing for years, it is unfair to the taxpayers of this community and fortunately Council agreed with us and turned it down.

We have Budget meetings all day next Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (and City Council on Wednesday night) so I’m sure there will be lots more to write about.
